Privacy policy

This policy explains what information we collect when you play Drug Lord 2 or Drug Lord 3 on Android, iOS or the web, or visit druglord.co.za, and what we do with it. It also covers other IdealTech games that use the same player account. We've tried to keep it plain. If anything is unclear, email us.

Who we are

The games and this website are run by IdealTech, an independent game developer in South Africa ("we", "us"). We are the responsible party for your personal information. Contact: christianfourie60@gmail.com.

Information we collect

When you create a profile

• Your email address, which is used to sign in, verify your account and send password-reset emails.
• A username, which is shown on leaderboards.
• Your password, which is stored only as a secure hash and never in readable form.
• If you sign in with Google or Apple, the account identifier that service gives us and, for Google, your profile picture link. We never see your Google or Apple password.

When you play

• Game data: your scores, rank and day reached, reputation points, challenges, unlocked perks, Dope Dollar balances and their transaction history, and invite codes you've shared or used.
• Guest play: if you play without signing up, the game may create an anonymous guest profile, identified only by a random ID, so that features like Dope Dollars work.
• Device information: a random identifier created by the game (not your phone's hardware ID), your platform (Android, iOS or web) and the game's version. We use this to count active versions, to prompt you to update when an old version stops working, and to stop invite codes being abused.
• Feedback: anything you send through the in-game feedback form or by email, along with the details you choose to include.
• Server logs: like nearly every website, our server records basic request details (IP address, browser type, page requested and time) for security and troubleshooting.

Purchases

Purchases are processed by Google Play on Android, by Apple on iOS, and by Paystack in the browser. We receive a receipt or transaction reference so we can credit what you bought and prevent it being credited twice. We never receive or store your card or bank details. Each payment provider handles your payment information under its own privacy policy.

Stored on your device

The games keep your saved run, settings and sign-in token on your device: in app storage on Android and iOS, and in your browser's local storage on the web. This stays on your device unless you clear it. The pages of this website (as opposed to the games) don't set any cookies of their own.

Advertising

Our games are free because of optional ads and purchases. The Android and iOS apps use Google AdMob, and the browser versions use Google AdSense (Google's ad service for web games). Ads may also appear on pages of this website. In the games, ads play only when you choose to watch one for a reward.

Google and its advertising partners are third-party vendors. They may use cookies, your device's advertising identifier and similar technologies to show ads, measure how they perform, limit how often you see the same ad, and prevent fraud. Where allowed, they may also use information about your visits to this website and to other websites and apps to show ads that are more relevant to you. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to our site and other sites on the internet.

Depending on where you are, you may be asked for consent before ads use cookies or identifiers for personalisation. You can also control this yourself:

• Turn off personalised ads from Google in My Ad Center (formerly Ads Settings).
• Opt out of personalised ads from many other vendors at aboutads.info, or youronlinechoices.eu in Europe.
• On Android, delete or reset your advertising ID under Settings → Privacy → Ads. On iOS, leave Allow Apps to Request to Track switched off.

How we use information

• To run your account, keep you signed in and let you recover your password.
• To run the games: leaderboards, reputation challenges, invite rewards, Dope Dollars and purchases.
• To keep the games fair and secure: detecting cheating, signed score submissions, and preventing abuse of invite codes and purchases.
• To fix bugs, understand which versions are in use, and decide what to improve.
• To reply when you contact us.
• To show ads, as described above.

We use your information because it's needed to provide the games you've asked for, because we have a legitimate interest in keeping them working, fair and secure, because the law requires it, or, for personalised advertising where the law requires it, because you've consented. We don't use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Other players: your username, scores, rank and reputation appear on public leaderboards. A name that breaks our rules, or that enough players report, is shown as "Hidden player".
• Service providers that run the games for us: DigitalOcean (server hosting), our email delivery provider (password-reset and account emails), Google (sign-in, Google Play purchases and ads), Apple (sign-in and App Store purchases) and Paystack (web payments). They may only use the information to provide their service.
• Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect our players, our games or ourselves from fraud or harm.

Some of these providers process information outside South Africa. When that happens, we rely on providers that are bound by data-protection laws or contracts giving your information a similar level of protection.

How long we keep it

• Account and game data are kept for as long as your account exists.
• When you delete your account, we permanently delete your email address, username, password, linked Google and Apple sign-ins, Dope Dollar balances, transaction history, perks, reputation and challenges. High scores, feedback and purchase receipts are kept without any link to you. Receipts are kept so a purchase can't be credited twice, and because tax and payment rules may require it.
• Server logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.

Your rights and choices

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for a particular purpose. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

• Delete your account at any time on the account deletion page or from the Drug Lord 3 menu, or email us. We'll act on emailed requests within 30 days.
• Ask us to hide your name from public leaderboards. Just email us.
• Play without an account as a guest.

If you're in South Africa, you can complain to the Information Regulator. If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can complain to your local data-protection authority. We'd appreciate the chance to sort things out first, so please email us.

Children

Our games are made for adults and are not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the age of digital consent where you live). If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.

Security

All traffic between the games and our server is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are hashed, score submissions are signed, and access to our server is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you and the authorities if a breach puts it at risk, as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our games or the law change, and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also tell you in the games.
