Release notes
Updates
Drug Lord 3 gets a new release every week or two. Here's what changed, newest first. Android updates arrive through Google Play, and the browser versions update the next time you open them.
-
Drug Lord 2 comes to the browser
Drug Lord 2 is now playable at druglord.co.za/2 on any phone, tablet or computer, which also makes it available on iPhone and iPad for the first time. Drug Lord 3 moved to druglord.co.za/3, and this site now has guides, an FAQ and these release notes.
-
Rookie days, day milestones and quicker first promotions
- New players start their runs with ten extra days until they first reach Pusher, then five extra until they reach Dealer.
- Passing $10K, $100K, $10M, $1B and $1T net worth adds a day immediately, and on every later run.
- The first two promotions land after one night above the threshold instead of two.
- The rank bar now spells out how much you still need and how many days you have.
- Up to five +2 day boosts per run, then a once-per-run +5 days.
-
No ad, no reward, no confusion
When no rewarded ad is available, the game now says so clearly instead of quietly handing out the reward.
-
Drug Lord 2, rebuilt
Drug Lord 2 was rebuilt from the ground up on a modern engine, with everything from the original Android game carried across. It adds the day's news after flights and fights, cleaner money labels for big numbers, and a profile shared with Drug Lord 3.
-
Invite friends
Every signed-in player gets an invite code. A friend who signs up with it receives a Dope Dollar welcome bonus, and you earn Dope Dollars once they start earning reputation. Player names on public leaderboards are now filtered, and you can report one from inside the game. Rewarded ads arrive in the browser version, and the intel board and price graphs quote the market's own unit price.
-
Street reports
- The street report now explains every lost load: customs, a checkpoint, a gang or a courier.
- The rank bar shows how many days you have to make your promotion.
-
Shop tab and hidden fight odds
Fights no longer show exact win odds up front, so reading the enemy is part of the game again. The store gets its own tab, and rewarded ads pay out after ten seconds.
-
Dope Dollars
The premium currency gets a proper name and symbol: Dope Dollars, ÐÐ. Signed-in players' balances are kept on their account.
-
Feedback with a reply
A new feedback dialog lets you send notes straight to the developer and rate the game. The menu now autosaves, and ads load only when you tap to watch one.
-
The Reckoning and reputation
Your rival can now come for you in person near the end of a run, with no running, no bribes and no deals. Finished competitive runs earn reputation points, which you can stake on challenges against other players, and there's a new reputation leaderboard.
-
Last-day warning and translation review
The game warns you when you reach your last day at a rank. All nine translations were reviewed, and dealing units are now translated too.
-
Sound refresh
New weapon sounds that rotate between takes, with bursts cut to match the number of rounds actually fired.
-
Endless Mode
An optional unlock that removes the day limit, with a fair warning about what it does and doesn't change. Endless runs are never ranked.
-
Playtest fixes
Two rounds of playtest fixes: honest customs odds, working papers, bag weight counted in escapes, fairer fares, a clearer combat log and tutorial. The bank vault and rival get portrait banners, and gang loot is capped at half your load.
-
New art
All thirteen properties, four vehicles, sixteen crew portraits and the front businesses redrawn, with full-scene art panels for fronts, operations and couriers. Stash upgrades got funnier names.
-
The combat update
A new fight engine with weapon classes (focus, blast, spray, suppress, area), magazines, body armour, gang capos, SWAT marksmen, city black markets and deeper crew progression. Read the fighting guide.
-
Vehicles that travel
Vehicles became a way to travel: drive, sail or fly private between cities with no airport and no customs. Balance and exploit fixes across the board.
-
Jobs, intel and honest net worth
Delivery jobs that account for fares, one intel reveal per day, front businesses that fade as you outgrow them, a net worth figure that counts only what you could actually sell, and buyers who stay in town.
